Cancer today is a global Issue. Oncologists all over the world are very much active in taming the killer disease. Barasat Cancer Research & Welfare Centre too is carrying on penetrative researches for offering befitting challenge to Cancer.

We are sure that we will be able to resist Cancer on the strength of intensive Basic Research Works based on innovative ideas in collaboration with eminent National and Inter-national Research Institutes.

Research Works

The guiding spirit in this sphere is - Today’s research will be tomorrow’s Remedy. The BCRWC oncologists and research workers are not also lagging behind - their relentless efforts in this regard are in full swing. The Centre’s various research programme includes Study on the ABO Blood Groups and Malignant Disorders - scope of running this project; materials method and chemicals required; the study of 1500 cases of blood group etc. The 1st phase of research work of blood group is on the way of completion.

P.C.R. (Polymerase Chain Reaction) related works are on in our “Department of Research & Development”

The Research Related Museum of the “Department of Research & Development” of the Centre (BCRWC) has attracted attention of highly qualified persons working in the field, in search of truth of human body which is yet a mistry, as if, challenging our talent and genuine love for truth.

The next phase of Research Work includes the topic - Stem Cells and Psychotherapeutic approaches to Cancer. The present study is concerned with malignancy - the incidence of which is increasing due to different factors like environmental pollution, etc. Moreover the proper treatment of malignant conditions much costly and also not available properly at all places. Therefore the early diagnosis and prevention of cases are of paramount importance to save the life of the patients and to reduce the incidence of the malignant conditions increasing in the society, from cost effective point of view.

The Research Work also includes Genomic Proteomic markers of Breast Cancer and its Clinical Application. The entire Research Work above mentioned topics will be completed by 2012 along with the on going projects.

On going Researches:
As the palliative treatment of Cancer is expensive, stress is being given on preventive oncology - Cervical Cancer Screening for rural women - Examination of co-relation with blood groups, as the genetically determined blood group can indicate the types of Cancer. The Centre has already reached an understanding with ICPO (ICMR, New Delhi), in the field of molecular research in cervical breast and oral Cancer. We propose to conduct our research in the field of Stem Cell Therapy and Protemic and Genomic asp ects of Breast Cancer.
